- A batch file is a command line program written and saved in a .BAT file used to manipulate your computer. Batch files can be both helpful, and harmful, so be careful if you find a script online. Make sure you know what it does before you run it. Batch files are fairly easy to write and even easier to understand. You just need to know where to find things at.
